Above are the endorsed candidates from the Federalist Party for the top seven state offices. These fourteen will soon become only seven. Mid-morning on Wednesday, citizens responded to their County Board of Elections to cast their vote in the Primary Election.

Here you see their counterparts in the Nationalist Party.

The Ashland County Board of Elections brings equipment to the University that allows each citizen to vote in an actual voting booth. Upon the completion of tallying the votes, the results of the Primary Election are quickly posted for everyone to see.

While the votes are being counted, the elected City officials receive orientation. However, on the other side of campus the BGS Highway Patrol receive a rare opportunity to view an OSP helicopter. Here we see BGS troopers awaiting the arrival.

Two BGS troopers are shown the inside of the helicopter and permitted to wear the pilot's helmet.

It soon became time for a group picture with the pilot, Sgt. Dana Steele. This will be an experience that will soon not be forgotten.

Too soon, the visiting helicopter was seen whisking off to Columbus.

After an afternoon of County Rallies and the General Election, citizens of Buckeye Girls State begin arriving at the Upper Convocation Center to take part in the City Government Celebration.

It is truly amazing how so many talented musicians can come together to sound as if they have been playing for months but have only really been together since Monday. The Buckeye Girls State Band adds so very much to our program and special programs.

Equally as important is the Buckeye Girls State Chorus. They became truly a single unit and produced the sounds of angels. Our Music and Recreation Department at Girls State works very hard to become so accomplished.

The City Government Celebration finds the 25 elected mayors being escorted into a celebration in their honor. Each mayor is introduced to the assembly by their City Government Advisor.

It was a great pleasure to have the City of Ashland's Mayor, the Honorable William E. Strine, to participate in City Government Celebration.

After addressing the 2003 Girls Staters, Mayor Strine administers the oath of office to the 25 newly elected mayors.

Donning his new "Spongebob Squarepants" tie, guest speaker Officer Gene D. Jarman spoke of "An Uncommon Freedom." A 20-year veteran police officer, he brought laughter, inspiration, challenges, and a top 5 list of "Why I want to be at Buckeye Girls State."
